I grew up in a family where the women looked like magazine covers before 8:am and can not relate to this ever thank you Lawd!
You get treated how you look, I do not even step out of my door without lipstick and fitted af. For me not anybody else….and the worst the day, the redder the lipstick

I hear you D. L. … but Sis… leave your bonnet.. house shoes and pajama bottoms at home. Have respect for yourself… be a Woman of Class. If doing your hair and putting on presentable clothing is too much of a task…. stay at Home!

So many of you are missing the point! It’s not that wearing this kind of attire is presentable. Most people of a certain class or ilk would never leave home wearing such attire. However, the question is why is it being banned? Who does it harm? Is it racial? Sure, you and I would not walk into public with our pajamas but what if we had extenuating circumstances? Or what if I just didn’t feel like putting on my Sunday’s best to go out? What if I was in a hurry? If the only issue with wearing a bonnet in public is because it’s not “presentable”… is that what freedom is? If wearing a bonnet isn’t harming anyone and isn’t showcasing violence against others or racism etc… what is the real issue? Could it be about race?

I don’t like them. I think they’re ghetto. Just my opinion. I’ve seen too many parents rolling up to school like this. And yes, sometimes in pajamas and slippers. I just don’t think it’s a good look.

I wear mine out especially if i have a twist out and somewhere to go later. I’m not all that work for nothing. People need to mind their business. I don’t see how someone wearing their bonnet affects others.

So glad you could do this but a lot of young mothers that have children and have a job and have to drop the children off at school or at daycare putting on lipstick and liner and all of this that you’re talking about is not at the top of their list.

What others wear,does not reflect on you. That’s it, that’s all. Live and let live. For all anyone else knows, you’re giving yourself a deep condition/ hot oil treatment and just stepped out for a second. Get over yourselves.

You bet not leave out my house with a damn bonnet, house shoes, nightgown, crusty eyes, bad breath, holes in socks and/or underwear etc. Nobody shouldn’t have to tell my kids because I tell them. We need to up our level of respect from people. Nobody should have to tell you this.

This is just an example of a social more that has nothing to do with someone paying rent. What’s the difference between this and a hat? Nothing. What if I had no hair products but had to go and run and pay my rent? Who dictates to me what is socially acceptable hair wear? Shut that shit up.
