Mass Formation Psychosis is the world’s first and only heavy metal University. Founded in 1994 by five high school students, the group exists today as the only functioning heavy metal band on a college campus. The band was formed at Florida State University in 1994 when Jamison Land, Sean Copeland, and Josh Hall decided to take their love of heavy metal to the next level. Influenced by the likes of Dave Matthews, Green Day, and 311, they began covering songs by these artists as well as Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Kiss and Pantera. In 1995 Mass Formation was joined by Johnny Pipes and began performing at local clubs in Tallahassee.
