The Olavo de Carvalho shirt was inspired by a Brazilian brand but produced after meticulous observation of the UK market. Tom Raffield, Shirt Thing’s Founder, worked with a Brazilian constructor who built six shirts to the exact specification of one shirt bought in London. After tailoring and trials, this is the result: A luxurious shirt made to measure for the UK customer. This is not a replica or “made in China” product but a high quality shirt which is handcrafted from triple-butted 100% cotton using Italian thread, buttons and bar tacks.

Olavo De Carvalho has done it again. This beautiful classic shirt features a pattern inspired by the classic Portuguese toile. The shirt fastens with a rounded “Hook-and-eye” collar and is crafted from pure cotton fabric.

The Olavo de Carvalho shirt embodies the old-school European sophisticate that only the finest Italian tailoring can provide. For spring, I combined a soft poplin with a classic collar, cuffs, and chest pocket—but all of it is designed to be modern and functional. The fine cotton poplin has a solid weave and lightweight feel that’s perfect for warm weather. Look closely and you’ll find that each piece has been constructed with traditional details in mind (like full lining and pick stitching) but updated to accommodate contemporary styles. Accent pieces like a contrast elbow patch are placed next to the buttons, and the signature shaped locker loop on the sleeve cuff serves as a subtle way to display your designer label on an otherwise muted ensemble for maximum style cred.
